I only resently started playing with flash, mostly just to creat flash versions of my work and add to it.
I was wondering if there was a way to reduce the file size of a flash file when using an uncompressed AVI file? (I don't think it can handle a compressed on.) |

Whoa, sorry for the late reply on this one leecrystal. Hope it's not too late to lend some help. Here are some optimization tips I've learned along my path to learning Flash:
If you are using an uncompressed AVI file, and don't want to manipulate it then there are other ways of reducing your flash file:
Eliminate the symbols that you don't need. This will dramatically decrease your flash file that will be published.
Eliminate any extra multi colored gradients that you don't use or need when doing a final publish. Gradients take up a good amount of space in your published flash file.
Whenever possible, group graphic objects. Grouped items are treated
as a single item by the Flash Player and will therefore download quicker.
Whenever possible, convert graphic objects to symbols.
Optimize all bitmap (photo realistic) objects.
Don’t embed fonts unless it’s absolutely necessary.
Whenever possible, use the default movie frame rate of 12 fps.
Hope this helps!
